About FWG Meetings
Exercise Group Meetings

Held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, commencing at 9:30 am, our exercise group meetings are designed to help develop writing skills. These meetings cater towriters from beginner to advanced.

Typically, the assignments are set a month ahead and each participant is asked to bring a work of up to 1,000 words that meets the assignment criteria and demonstrates understanding of the technique the assignment is designed to develop.

Members then critique each other's writing and make suggestions for improvement.

Participation fee is $3.00 ($4.00 if you are also attending theNovel/Short Story Group meeting for the month)

If you are interested in joining FWG, you may attend one Exercise Group meeting free of charge.

*Please note: There are currently no vacancies for new members, but you are welcome to register interest and ask to be contacted when a vacancy arises.

Meetings typically conclude at approx. 12:30pm and all those attending are invited to the Coffee Shop for lunch afterward.

Novel/Short Story Group Meetings

Held on the 4th Saturday of each month, commencing at 9:30 am, ournovel/short storygroup meetings are designed to helpwriters who are working on short stories or book-length works of fiction or creative non-fiction.These meetings cater to writers from beginner to advanced.

Participants are asked to upload a short story or novel chapter to this website at least 10 days prior to the meeting and to bring a printed copy to the meeting. Participants are asked to read the uploaded documents before the meeting and make critique notes to bring to the meeting for discussion.

Membersdiscuss each other's writing at the meetingand make suggestions for improvement.

Participation fee is $3.00 (free if you paid $4.00 to also attend the Exercise Group meeting for the month)

Anthology Project Meetings

Fairfield Writers have just completed their fifth anthology, Christmas Stories: A Collection for Adults. The Grand Launch of this work was held on Saturday 17th September, 2016 in Fairfield Library.
